Classes in Theatre

TH01 The Meisner Technique for Actors Marta Fiscus Ages 16-adult Mondays 6:15-7:30pm $115
Sanford Meisner (1905-1997) created the "Meisner Technique" to help acting students develop the habit of “listening” and becoming "unselfconscious". Just as the piano player practices scales, and the baseball player practices swinging his bat, so must the actor practice "listening and responding" to achieve their full potential as an artist. Well- known actors who have trained using this technique include James Franco, Sandra Bullock, Jeff Bridges, Diane Keaton, and Robert Duvall. In this class, the students will practice a series of exercises that will help develop their ability to improvise and stretch their emotional range. By practicing this "moment to moment" spontaneity with other actors', students will learn to "live truthfully under imaginary circumstances". This class is fun, energizing, thought-provoking, and will change the way you see yourself and the world around you. No experience is necessary.

TH03 Storybook Adventures Shea-Mikal Green Wednesdays 5:30-6:00 $60
Each of these classes will be based on a different book. These themed classes will focus on creativity, self-expression, social and cognitive development, and focused play. We will use music and movement, play, exploration, and lots of imagination!

As part of our commitment to improving reading and writing skills in young children, students who register for both "Create Your Own Storybook" (under Creative Writing) and "Storybook Adventures" will receive a 25% discount. Register before the end of December for a 35% discount.
