ROCK SCHOOL MASTER CLASSES
Free workshops open to all rock school participants. These workshops will be concentrating on hands-on techniques, practices, and exercises specific to each instrument group: Vocal, Guitar/Bass, Keyboard, and Drums. Teachers will explain common themes throughout all rock genres and how to achieve them, as well as coach students on any repertoire that their groups are currently working on. Classes will also focus on exploration of resources available online, and products available. Students will be given the opportunity to perform for the class, and give/receive constructive criticism. All students enrolled in Cumberland Rock School are encouraged to come for their designated instrument masterclass (as well as any other instrument they may be interested in); however, attendance is not required. Master classes will normally be held on Saturday afternoons; although other arrangements will be considered as scheduling allows. Dates TBA.
Beginning in the summer TSCSA opened our new Jazz program! Under the direction of Mr. Bill Green, students will get the opportunity to learn the art of jazz performance and improvisation in a small group setting using the same format of our popular Cumberland Rock School Classes. Sessions will be one hour a week with a final performance at the end of every semester. Students that play instruments such as; voice, piano, drums, bass, sax, trumpet, trombone, guitar and flute are welcome to register to be a part of this new and exciting program.
New in the summer, TSCSA began offering a Concert Band Program open to all Brass, Woodwind, Percussion and String players enrolled at Tri-State. Under the direction of Mrs. Alison Welborne, students will study and perform a wide array of concert band repertoire in a large ensemble setting. Weekly sessions will be held Monday from 1-2pm, with a final performance at the end of the semester. Students of all instruments are strongly encouraged to enroll for this great experience.
