New this semester:
Donated by the family and friends of David Thompson (07/12/76-03/13/03)
A devoted son, brother, teacher, coach, friend. Dave Thompson graduated from Bedford High School in 1994 and graduated from Kutztown University in 1998 with a Bachelor's Degree in Library and Informational Science. While attending Kutztown Univeristy, Dave was an avid supporter of music acting as a roadie for bands on holiday breaks and being a radio DJ. During his college years through 2001, Dave also acted as the Music Events Coordinator and Promoter for the Regal Beegle Barn Live Concerts. He booked bands from across the US and brought them to the Tri-State area. In 2001, Dave founded Regal Beegle Records while living in Frostburg. Following graduation, Dave became the librarian at Berlin Brothersvalley High School where he coached both the football, and the quiz teams while advising the Guitar Club, and the yearbook. He reached out to his students, encouraging engagement in music and the arts, and tutoring homebound students. During the winter sporting seasons, he acted as sports commentator for the Mountaineers. Dave returned to school in 2001 and would have obtained his Master's Degree in Education in 2003. Unfortunately, in March of 2003, Dave collapsed during a Ju Jutsi class due to a ruptured Aortic valve.
He is forever in our hearts. May his legacy rock on.
The David Joseph Thompson II Memorial Scholarship is awarded each semester to a Rock School student currently excelling in private lessons and looking for an opportunity to play in a group setting. For more information, call the Tri-State Community School for the Arts at (301) 876-1562.
